Let Them Shine Gala, organised by the Marketing Consultancy Office (Rehabilitation), is an annual territory-wide publicity event to enhance public understanding and acceptance of persons with disabilities and their diversified abilities by demonstrating their services and products with an aim to promote equal work opportunities and facilitate their integration into the community.
Officiating at the ceremony were the Deputy Director of Social Welfare (Services) Mrs. Anna Mak and the Chairman of the Advisory Committee on Enhancing Employment of People with Disabilities Mr. Ivan Ho. Renowned singer and song writer Mr. Jonathan Wong was appointed as Let Them Shine Ambassador 2011 – 2012 and staged with persons with disabilities for performance during the Ceremony.
Awards were presented to winners of the Let Them Shine Premium Competition for Persons with Disabilities held in August 2011. The Competition aimed at arousing public awareness on the creativity and talent of persons with disabilities so that more work opportunities could be made available to them.
To demonstrate the diversities of abilities of persons with disabilities as well as providing persons with disabilities with equal work opportunities and facilitating their integration into the community, a 4-day Parade was also held to showcase the SEPD services and products of persons with disabilities provided by 14 non-government organisations.
