“Enhancing Employment of People with Disabilities through Small Enterprise” Project Sharing Session
To foster the communication between the Advisory Committee on Enhancing Employment of People with Disabilities (AC) and funded businesses, as well as to enable interested Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs) to know more about the “Enhancing Employment of People with Disabilities through Small Enterprise” Project (3E Project), points to note for application, financial arrangements and experiences of operating social enterprises, the Secretariat to the 3E Project organised a Project Sharing Session on 5.10.2023 at the Hong Kong Federation of Youth Groups Building in North Point.
Under the theme of “Driving the Development of Social Enterprises, Promoting Employment of Persons with Disabilities”, the Sharing Session comprised two Panel discussions and two keynote presentations. In the panel discussion sessions, Dr Kevin LAU, MH, JP (AC Chairperson), Ms Jeny YEUNG (AC Member), Mr Herman HUI, GBS, MH, JP (Former AC Member) and Ms Prudence MAK (Former AC Member) shared with participants on issues related to submitting 3E Project applications and how to grab market opportunities to maintain sustainable businesses and to suit the needs of the market.
In the keynote presentation sessions, business representatives from two businesses funded by the 3E Project, namely New Life Psychiatric Rehabilitation Association and Barrier Free Access (HK) Limited, shared with participants their experience in the setting up of social enterprises, its operations, brand-building strategies and ways to stay up to date with the market.
Many thanks for different parties’ participation and support to the Sharing Session. We hope that the Sharing Session has provided participants with gainful insights on the 3E Project and development of social enterprises. In future, let us work together to put into practice the theme of Sharing Session – “Driving the Development of Social Enterprises, Promoting Employment of Persons with Disabilities”.
